Get ready for an exciting Family Weekend! Your registration includes access to all activities listed below unless otherwise noted (such as athletic events and Blair performances). While there is something for everyone, be sure to add our Signature Events to your schedule. These featured events are the heart of Family Weekend and are designed to bring families together in celebration of the 17c起草视频 community.

Signature Events

Friday, September 18

  • 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Coffee with Dean Johnson-Roberson of the College of Connected Computing

    Location:

    The invites all 17c起草视频 parents and families to connect over coffee and conversation with Dean Johnson-Roberson. Stop by for this great opportunity to meet the founding dean and explore how the college鈥檚 programs, research, and initiatives are advancing the future of computing at 17c起草视频.

    Family Weekend check-in will not open until 8:30 a.m. Your Family Weekend confirmation email will be your admittance to this event until you can check-in at main registration.

  • 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Check-In and Registration

    Make Carmichael College your first stop! Nametags, schedule, and more will be available. Make sure to have your confirmation email ready or your confirmation QR codes saved.听

    Note: Nametags are required for entry into all Family Weekend events. Students must be registered for the weekend.

  • 10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Athletics Tour

    Location: Depart from

    Join members of 17c起草视频 Athletics for exciting insight into some of our newest spaces and hear what鈥檚 next for the future of Athletics. The path will include a mix of indoor/outdoor opportunities, and guests should be prepared to walk near active construction areas.鈥

  • 10 a.m. - 11a.m. Historical Tour

    Location:

    Take a stroll with University Archivist, Kathy Smith, as she recounts stories from the more than 150 years of 17c起草视频 history. Attendees should plan on walking outside, mostly on sidewalks, for the duration of the tour.鈥

  • 10 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. Campus Admissions Tour

    Join the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for an engaging morning with a 30-minute presentation from an admissions counselor, who will give you key insights into the admissions process, financial aid and scholarships, and more. Afterward, a student tour guide will lead an approximately one-hour, 1.5-mile walking鈥痶our across campus detailing the academic and social life on campus and in Music City from a student鈥檚 perspective. The visit will conclude with an optional question and answer session.

  • 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The Wond'ry Open House and Tours

    Calling all Innovators, Designers, Change-Makers, Creators, Inventors, and Entrepreneurs! Be sure to visit the Wond鈥檙y, 17c起草视频鈥檚 Center for Innovation and Design, and learn about how the Wond鈥檙y is creating transformative value by helping bold ideas grow into new real-world products, processes, and ventures. Whether identifying user needs, building functional prototypes, or tackling tough challenges through human-centered design, the Wond鈥檙y offers innovators the courses, tools, and community they need for a successful innovation journey鈥攅ven after graduation! Spark your imagination with a behind-the-scenes look by exploring recent projects and meeting the people who have driven innovation, invention, and creative expression to the core of campus life.

    Join Oscar Anderson from the Campus Planning, Design and Construction team for a tour of new spaces and places. Learn how this team is bringing 17c起草视频's vision to life by creating spaces that support the academic mission and embody the university's pursuit of excellence and innovation.

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Arboretum Tour

    Location:听

    The terrace is outside of the dining hall, facing Alumni Lawn and Neely Auditorium.听

    Join James Moore, University Landscape Architect, on a tour of the Arboretum within the historic core of campus. Along the way, he will discuss the trees of the Arboretum, the history of campus design, and how the University is planning for the future. Attendees should plan on walking outside, mostly on sidewalks, for the duration of the tour.

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Getting Connected & Involved

    Location:

    An overview of the many ways students get involved and find their place at 17c起草视频, followed by a mini-tabling experience where families can explore specific involvement areas and connect with campus representatives to learn more about the opportunities available.

  • 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Library Resources for Students Presentation

    Location:

    In addition to the thousands of electronically available books and journals, 17c起草视频 librarians teach students a range of skills from critical thinking to how to create an engaging presentation. In this session, you will learn about the latest services and resources available from the. We'll share strategies for ensuring your students' academic success as well as provide tips for getting the most out of the libraries' spaces, people and collections.听

    Join us to meet the director and hear firsthand about the vision, innovation, and excitement as VUMA embarks on its next chapter.     Reconnect, Reminisce, and Recharge!

    Location:

    Stop by to meet our staff and learn more about the Center for Student Wellbeing. Come discover the services and programs offered to cultivate lifelong wellbeing practices in 17c起草视频 students. Take a tour of the Center, including the peaceful meditation room and the 17c起草视频 Recovery Support (VRS) Collegiate Recovery Program meeting space. A smoothie station with fresh fruit smoothies blended to order will be available.听

    Experience an unforgettable Nashville Songwriters' Night featuring three of Music City's most acclaimed hitmakers: Marcus Hummon, Tony Arata, and Sarah Buxton. Hear the stories behind the songs as these award-winning songwriters perform their own hits and share the inspiration and creative process behind music made famous by artists including Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Keith Urban, Trisha Yearwood, Florida Georgia Line, and many more. It's an intimate evening of songs, storytelling, and the artistry that defines Nashville.

  • 7:30 p.m. Blair Presents: An Evening with Luc铆a

    Luc铆a,听one of the most exciting young voices in contemporary jazz, makes her听much-anticipated听Nashville debut on Friday, September 18听in听Ingram Hall. At just 24, the acclaimed Mexican vocalist has captivated audiences worldwide with her extraordinary blend of jazz, Latin, and pop influences, earning听global听recognition as the first Mexican artist to win the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Warm, soulful, and technically dazzling, Luc铆a鈥檚 performances bridge cultures and musical traditions in an unforgettable evening of artistry and emotion.听

    Kick off the evening at our pre-concert Plaza Party outside Blair, featuring the WacaMole Mexican food truck, live music, Latin dancing, and interactive activities for all to enjoy. Produced in collaboration with CLACX, the celebration will engage students and the campus community while honoring National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15鈥揙ctober 15) through a vibrant showcase of Latin American culture.

    Location:

    Join the South Asian Cultural Exchange (SACE) in Alumni Hall 201 for a flavorful and friendly afternoon at Chaat and Chat, where students and parents alike are invited to meet SACE and enjoy some chaat, and of course chat, together. Chaat is a savory street snack originating from South Asia, known for its bold mix of textures and spices, and is the food embodiment of the diverse culture and identity from the region. Attendees will have the chance to try popular varieties like sev puri and samosa chaat while learning more about SACE鈥檚 role in celebrating South Asian culture on campus. The event will conclude with an optional Q&A session.

The exhibition will show major but never-displayed works by four female artists in the VUMA collection: a 25-foot-long tapestry by the fiber artist Sheila Hicks; a group of 13 works on paper by the Chicago Imagist Barbara Rossi; five drawings by the jazz musician and visual artist C茅cile McLorin Salvant; and a 10-foot-long fresco by the British duo Rosie Hastings and Hannah Quinlan.
